Nathalia Residents Rally Together as Gas Phase-Out Looms

With Solstice planning to wind down compressed natural gas (CNG) by late 2026, a group of Nathalia locals has come together to make sure our community’s voice is heard.

The newly formed Nathalia CNG Chat Group — led by Kevin Scolyer, Adie Van Luenen, Kevin Bourke, Roland Huber, and Deb and Russell Shaw — is mapping out how many households and businesses still rely on CNG, and just how much has been invested in gas appliances across the region.

Early signs show it’s a lot.

The group invites all residents and businesses affected by the gas phase-out to come along to the first community meeting on Thursday 6th November at 6pm at the Nathalia Bowling Club, Weir Street, Nathalia.

It’s a chance to share your experience, ask questions, and add your name to the CNG Register before discussions begin with Solstice.

“This is about making sure Nathalia’s needs are properly considered before decisions are made,” says group member Roland Huber. “The more people we hear from, the stronger our voice becomes.”

If you use CNG at home or in your business, it’s important to be part of this conversation.
